Text and blocks
Most of a post is ordinary writing: paragraphs, a few headings, a list or two. This page goes through the everyday blocks and what each one turns into, so you can see how your own posts will look.
Text
Rich text keeps bold, italic, strikethrough, underline, inline code, colors, backgrounds and links. Links to other pages in the database, like Code and math, point to their page on your site.
Each block becomes the element you would write by hand: a paragraph is a p, a heading is an h2, a quote is a blockquote. Because the markup is ordinary, typography styles such as Tailwind's prose cover it with no extra work.
Blocks become the HTML you would write by hand.
Lists
Notion stores every list item as its own block. They are grouped back into lists, so a screen reader announces how many items there are and where the list ends.
- Consecutive items become one list
- Items can nest
- Numbered inside bulleted
- And so on
Toggles become details
Hidden until opened, with no JavaScript. The browser's own details element does the work, so it also opens when the reader searches the page for a word inside it.
Layout
Tables keep their header row and column, and scroll sideways on small screens instead of squeezing their text.

Bookmarks
The official API only gives a bookmark's URL, so the title, description and image come from the page's Open Graph tags. They are fetched when the page is rendered and cached along with it.

Databases inside a page, like the Tables database at the top of this one, are not rendered. The official API does not describe their views, so there is no faithful way to draw them; link to a page that lists the rows instead.
